Unity and 2008 Presidential Politics
President elect Barack Obama is indeed a man who looks to bring about change through unity. If this nation thinks for one moment that unity is something that is not a major world issue, then, we all have our heads buried in the proverbial sand.
The fruit of unity will be: Agreement, Boldness and Sharing.
Agreement: When the leaders of our great nation come together in unity to agree that we need change, then we can begin the process of healing our nations wounded souls.
Boldness: I believe that president elect Barack Obama is a man of great convictions. He has made it very clear that he stands ready to vigorously defend America.
"Speak softly and carry a big stick" (A proverb quoted by Theodore Roosevelt as a brief statement of his approach to foreign policy.).
"A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger" (Proverb 15:1).
Sharing: All of the people of this great nation should be given honest opportunity to make their way prosperous. Every individual should have access to affordable health care, the best health care available.
Unity will not happen to America of its own accord. Unity must come, and will come, when we who fervently love God and one another, will purpose in our hearts to pray that the leaders of our great nation will come together in the spirit of unity. We, the people of these UNITED STATES OF AMERICA must first put away our own selfish pride and prejudices, whatever they are, and come together...“Endeavoring to keep the unity of the SPIRIT in the BOND of PEACE”...(Ephesians:4:3giving diligence to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.). We must put aside our own plans and embrace God’s plan for the future of this great nation.
If Christians will pray for president elect Barack Obama instead of being rebelliously critical of him, we will find ourselves being lead by an outstanding, truth-lead President. Furthermore, irrespective of political affiliation, we must continue to support him while he is in office, as he takes on the often arduous task of leading this great nation.
